1180 Messianic Theology

The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the tremendous amount of Scripture, which are the foundation to Messianic Theology, or the Doctrine of the Son of God.  The development of this doctrine was in full bloom in the 1-3rd centuries but as the first assembly spread into the known Roman-Greco-world and Jewish believers became the minority it suffered the tragedy of removing the Jewishness of Yeshua (Yeshua from doctrine and practice. By the removing the central idea of the Jewish understanding of Scripture and declaring it merely Jewish culture, we have lost an intrinsic  understanding of the Messiah in His original context.  This has lead also to the dismissal of Messianic Jewish Theological by post-modern Christianity and therefore lies at the root of any mis-understanding of a Messianic Theological figure.

It is therefore the objective of this class to research and discuss the Biblical background of Messianic thought from both it's Jewish origins and it's development through the first century and the centuries to follow.  The student will explore the idea of who the Messiah would be, His function and role with respects to Israel and the Nations.  The student will also be required to understand the Messianic role, which awaits in the future.
